What is Four Thieves Vinegar?

Legend has it, during the Black Plague in Europe, there were four thieves that stole from the homes of the sick and infected people without getting sick themselves. When they were caught, they revealed that they made a vinegar-based mixture and applied it to their skin. This concoction has been recreated over time and is still available for purchase or can be made home. In Hoodoo practices, is sometimes utilized for its spiritual properties, such as offering protection and aiding in banishing rituals.

For practitioners of Hoodoo, it is advised to create your Four Thieves mixture by hand. If you seek to connect with your ancestors, remember that they are always within you. Making spell jars is similar to the way we cook without using the precise measurements just to enhance the flavor, this practice follows a similar approach. When they were asked how they avoided getting sick, the thieves revealed they made a vinegar blend to protect against the plague. This blend included garlic, salt, basil, red or black pepper peppermint and other herbs.

It may be taken internally or as a cover yourself with it as a body spray or spraying in front of the entrance of your home.
