The Power of Cayenne Pepper
Cayenne pepper contains powerful compounds that have antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and blood purifying properties. Cayenne pepper, scientifically known as Capsicum annuum is a spicy red pepper, belonging to other Capsicum varieties such as jalapenos, ghost pepper, as well as bell peppers and more. As pictured below, there are green cayenne peppers, but they are not as spicy as a red pepper would be. The spice has been used for Ayurvedic medicines and other traditional uses that is still used in current times. Cayenne pepper thrives in tropical weather and many parts of the world such as India, Africa and the United States, but its origin is likely from Central and South America. This pepper, along with many other capsicum species contain a compound called capsaicin, which is what makes these peppers HOT! Capsaicin alone is rich in vitamins, minerals, anti-microbial and anti-cancer properties.
