Make Oil of Oregano at Home

When you think of oregano, you may think of just putting it on pizza or pasta, but it's actually a herb with powerful, natural healing abilities. Oregano has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for its antioxidants, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. Oregano is rich in carvacrol and thymol, two potent compounds known for their ability to fight bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

Recommended Carrier Oils

  • Coconut Oil

  • Olive Oil

  • Avocado Oil

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dried Oregano

  • 1 cup Carrier Oil of your choice



Method 1

  1. Fill a small pot of water and place the jar in the water.

  2. Allow it to infuse for about 2-4 hours on low heat. Shake occasionally.

  3. Once done, let it cool completely. Strain out the oregano using a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer into a clean glass jar or bottle.

  4. Store in a cool, dark place and keep out of direct sunlight.


Method 2

  1. Combine chopped oregano and oil in a jar.

  2. Let it sit for 3-8weeks in a sunny windowsill, shaking it every few days.

  3. Strain and store as usual.




Uses

Internally: With a dropper, add 10 drops in water or juice (only if using food-grade ingredients). Consume twice daily.

Topically: Apply to skin for fungal infections, acne, or muscle pain.

Inhalation: Add to steam inhalation for congestion.
